ST. BATHANS.

July 17. — In my report last week it was, mentioned that the Scandinavian Company's gold was still in the sluice race, but that the manager, Mr Nicolson, was using hi 3 best endeavours to get the metal out. It is gratifying to write you that Mr Nicolson has been partly successful, but had to abandon the idea of getting all the gold out of the race, the frost being too keen for him. The length of tho race that is left unwashed is supposed to contain 50oz. The section of race that was washed up gave a return of 3500z. This is looked upon as very satisfactory, leaving a bright and promising future in store for the company.
