i A rather .curious case came before the stipendiary magistrate to-day, *Percy Fisher, a young man, being charged" witb violently assaulting Rebecca Griffen. 25
years of age. According to tne statement of the plaintiff, who was a nurse at the j lunatic asylum, she was engaged to defend- | ant, but, having refused to let him kiss | her, he knocked her about, and finally tried ' to stab her, but she got the knife "away., She had heard that he was a married manj kit defendant- denied it: 1 The plaintiff's clothes, produced in court, were covered with mud, and, übdordirig to her description, she wasT.in a* .dreadful state after her contest with -the accused* The hearing of the case was adjourned. "
