KEY TO THE MINING} LAW.

A '" Key to the Mining Act, 1893," compiled by Mr John Houghton, has just been issued. The manner in which the work has been arranged will.be found to be exceedingly handy. Not only are every section find every subsection of the Mining Act reproduced in the key, but the regulations, including the amendments which have just been gazetted, are also,, with unimportant exceptions, included. The work is, consequently, quite up to date. The references to the same subject, moreover, are grouped under a common heading, and as there are frequent cross-references , and the analytical " index is alphabetically arranged, the key forms not only a compact summary, but a summary that can be conveniently consulted, of the mining law of the colony. Lngal practitioners and mining agents will find it an invaluable aid. The work has been printed at the office of the Otago Daily Times and Witness Newspapera Company.
