FREIGHTS ON BUTTER AND CHEESE.

WELLINGTON, July 12,

The National Dairy Association have marie a contract with the two leading shipping companies on favourable 'terms for the carriage of butter and cheese to London. Under ihe propo&ed arrangements regularity of shipment will be secured — a point on which there have been constant complaints. The freights compare favourably with those from Melbourne, being equal to 3s 7d per box for butter and 6s lOd per crate of 1631b of cheese. In addition, the companies pay the coastal freight to Wellington and all transhipping charges. These latter concessions bring the rates below Melbourne terms.
