CASUALTIES.
The body of Donald Kennedy, manager of Mr W. C. Buchanan's station, at Tupurupuru, was found hanging in a plantation of firs, and with every appearance that he had committed suicide. No cause was assigned.
The body of a man found near Forest Gate, Waipawa, has been identified as that of Abraham (Summers.
Sir Frederick Price, a visitor from India, and Mr Barrett, of the State department, were thrown out of a buggy at Okeire Falls. Rotorua. Sir Frederick received a rather severe wound on the head, but Mr Barrett escaped with slight injury.
Samuel Priest, a farmer at Okute Valley, Canterbury, was found dead on the 31&t with a gunshot wound in his chest. The deceased was run over by a horse on the racecourse some years ago, and has since been eccentric. At the inquest a veidict was returned of suicide while temprorarily insane, due to a previous accident.
An accident of a peculiar nature happened on Thursday to a young man named Frank Foster, a member of the Fire Brigade. Foster, who carries on business as a tailor, at the Octagon, hearing the alarm of fire given, stopped the work he was engaged upon and made a rush for the Brigade Station. In some manner not quite clear he ran into a plate glass door with great force and shattered the glass. His right arm, which went through the glass, was very badly lacerated, and an idea of the force with which he .struck it ip»iy be gathered from the fact that the impetus carried him right on to the footpath, where he dropped, the blood streaming from his arm. Dr Martin, was handy, and washed and dressed the wounds, which were both long and deep, after which Foster was conveyed to the hospital, where the a\ ounds were stitched. The injuries were chiefly confined to the upper part of the arm, and the muscles were very badly cut. After receiving attention at the hospital the sufferer proceeded to his home.
At the inquest on the body of Bernard M'Donald, at Auckland, an open verdict of found drowned was returned. Deceased when la'-t .seen alive wa^ the worse of liouor.
Mrs Elizabeth Carroll, wife of Wm Carroll, licensee of the Masonic Hotel, Cambridge, Auckland, died on the 15th. It ih alleged she has been suffering from injuries received in an assault made upon her by her husband on the 35th May. Mis Carroll had been unconscious for ten days. The inquest was opened on Friday before Mr Gresham. Carrol, her husband, went to Auckland on Thursday, but on receirjt of a
telegram returned by train on Friday. On arrival he was arrested by Const-able Cahill and lodged, in the lockup pending the inquest.
