DUNEDI N CIT Y MISSION,

The monthly meeting of the executive was held on the afternoon, of the 31ts ult., when there were present — Messrs Geo. M. Thomson (president, in the chair), John A. D. Adams, E. Rosevear (hon. treasurer), D. Wright (mis-sioi-ary), George Reid, Willian? Hutchison, and Daniel Smith.

To prevent misunderstanding, the committee wish to notify and emphasise the fact that this City Mission is in no sense sectarian or denominational. The missionary has put his services at the disposal of all clasees and creeds, and will continue to do so.

The Honorary Treasurer reported the" following donations, etc., for the month: — A friend, £1: T., 4s; Sympathiser, 3s; a city merchant, £5; X.Y.Z., £1; a lady helper (now deceased), IGs ; Mission Hall, Russell street, 19s 3d ; a member of comnmtee, £1 (tecond offering for '99). The missionary had also boon entrusted with several offerings for the deserving poor.

In reply to the president's application, . Letters were read from All Saints' and St. Matthew's, explaining why they could not promise financial assistance. Collections have been cheerfully promised by Mornington Presbyterian Church and First and Knox Churches. To all sympathisers the committee offer sincere thanks.

The missionary's monthly memo, included the following matters: — (1) Stale School Bible-reading classes : Attendances for four weeks — High street 436, Union street 492, Albany street (three days only) 335, George street 368, Arthur street 458.— Total 2099. Largely benause of the splendid help given at Union street, it will be observod that that school comes ovit well. But for sickness and other caiißes, the classes would all be larger. Through the press, parents who aro sympathelio have been urgently asked to siren gthen the missionary's hands. He is net yet satisfied with the proportion of boys at these classes. (2) His visitations included tho Industrial School, tho old, and the sick, as usual, and several calls at the hospital, etc. (3) By request, ho assisted with weekday and Sunday services at Woodhaugh Sunday school anniversary, the Sailors' Rest, the united week of prayer at Hanover street, Kaikorai Presbyterian Church, the Wesleyan and Baptist ounday schools, and also St. Andrew s and the Industrial Sunday schools. (4) Hearty gatherings have been held at Russell street Hall on Sunday evenings, where many friends assist. The monthly offerings amounted to 19s 3d.
