A curious circumstance is told of tho German Emperor's entry into Jerusalem. The Turkish police cleared the roadway by most impartially whacking and banging everyone who attempted to trespass upon it. But there was one exception, in the shape of an old woman, who was allowed to wander at will along the open space reserved for the Imperial party. She was wearing a petticoat made of a tattered Union Jack.
