fiambra had the best of the play for a time, and Ross got a splendid chance to run in, but was too slow, and was grassed by Doig. ■ Union were penalised near their own twentyfive, and Bennet had a shot at goal, the ball falling just under the bar. The Colours kept play on the right side of the half-distance, but there was no score when Mr J. West Bounded the whistle for time. The game thus ended : Albambra .. nil. Union. . . .. nil. SECOND GRADE FLAG MATCHES.

The match between the Port First and Kavensboume First was very closely contested from first to last. Port opened the first spell by charging into the home team's twenty-five, and for a few minutes looked very like scoring; but a loose rush by the Jtavensbourne forwards carried the ball into the Port's twenty-five, and from a scrum Low scored a fine try. Webber failed to enhance. Uninteresting scrum work about the middle of the field followed. Towards the close of the spell Port were awarded a free kick, and T. M'Queen placed a fine goal. In the second spell the Ravensbourne forwards invaded the Port's twenty-five, and made strenuous efforts to score ; a force down eventually clearing the line. Port gradually worked down the field, and from a scrum Imrie secured the ball, passed to Cable, who transferred to M'Queen. From M'Queen the ball went to J. Collier, who made a splendid run through the opposing backs, and scored at the corner. M'Queen failed to enhance. Ravensbourne dropped out, and 'invaded the Port's twenty-five. The match between the Kaikorai and Union A teams, played on the North ground, resulted in the latter Fustaining their first defeat this season by 3 points to nil. ' The Kaikorai were strengthened by the inclusion of James Torrance and Jackson, while the Union were not fully lepresented, Kilgour, Hutchison, and Murdoch being absent. The forwards were pretty evenly matched, as were the backs ; but the Union's rearguard played much below their usual form. For the Kaikorai J. Torrance was very safe at centre three-quarter, while Jackson's kicking gained a lot of ground. Edwards was the best of the backs, and scored the only try of the match, after a good run. Of the Union backs Knowles was in good form, and Gunthorpe made a couple of. dashing runs, very nearly scoring on each occasion. Lumb also played well, but the others were seen at their worst. "Mr Restieaux controlled the game admirably. ... The Pirares A team defeated the Zingari Second on Saturday on the North ground by two tiies (6 points) to $ point? (a goal from a mark).
