WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.
Messrs iforitzHon and Hopkin report for Week ending June 7: —
-Wheat. — There is a good demand for prime samples,, but other descriptions are hard to place. The demand for fowl feed is not so brisk. We quote: Best velvet, 2s 4d to 2s 6d; best Tuscan, 2s 3d to 2s sd ; fowl wheat, Is lOd to' '2s. Oats: The bulk of arrivals being for storage, all coming forward for sale have met'with a ready sale. We quote: Best feed, Is 3fcd to Is 4d; medium and inferior, Is 21 to Is 3d per bushel; Sutherlands, Is 5d to Is shd. Barley : Feed sorts are quoted at Is 6d to Is 9d ; milling, Is lOd to 2s; prime malting, 2s 9d to 3s 4d ; medium, 2s 4d to 2s Bd. Ryecorn, nominally 2s to 2s 6d. Flour : We quote £','. Oatmeal in 25's, £8. Pearl barley, £12. Bran, £3. Pollard, £3 10s. Nelson hops are quoted at Sd to lid (f.o b.). Chaff. Supplies being heavy prices show rio advance. Prime, £1 5s to £2 7s 6d; medium, 37s 6d to 42s 6d. Rycgraes: Few sales are being made here, farmers being inclined to hold in the meantime, to see if prices will improve. Buyers' ideas of values are from Is 6d to Is 9d for ordinary farmers' dressed seed, and up to 2s for excentionally good sarnulcs. We quote: Farmers' dressed, Is 3d to 1« 9d ; machined. 2s 6d to 3s. Cocksfoot, 2Jd to 3Jd for farmers' lots, and 4Jd to 5d for machined. Linseed, £10." Pressed straw, 255. Clover hay, £3 to £3 10s. Nitrate of soda, £15. Clovers, rape, etc., all fresh. We can offer all classes of seeds pure 'and fresh. Potatoes. — Arrivals have been heavy and prices are easier. Kidneys, 27s 6d to 30s; Derwent?, 30s to. 32s Gd per ton. .Hide?, 14d to 4}d, according to weight and condition. We have a special inquiry, and can guarantee top prices.
• Tallow: -Rough fat. 9s to 11s; rendered, 10s 6d to 15s, according to quality. •Horsehair,- Is 2d to Is 4d.
■ Sheepskins. — We offered a large catalogue at our usual -sale on Tuesday. Competition was very active, and prices ruled firm at late advance. Fine-wool led skins were in special request, and brought extreme prices. We sell by auction every Tuesday.
Rabbitskins. — We offered a good catalogue this week. Competition was very keen, and best sorts were rather higher. We sold best from 18d to 21d per lb for autumns and incomings ; summers, from 12d to 15d ; and small from 5d to 8d per lb; winters, 22d to 23d per We undertake country clearing sales, nvurr and troduce report.
Butter cases with pavchmont. ISs per dozen. Butter. — Prime dairy (No. 1 grade), 7d ; No. 2, 6d ; milled, 6d to 7d for choice. Please note. Consignors of butter must consign to us, Dunedin, not Port Chalmeis. Home shipments now stopped.
Pigs. — For good quality, to 4Jd. Poultry received for sale any day. Roosters, 2s 9d ; hens, 2s to 2s 3d ; diicka, 3s 6d to Ss 9d per pair. These quotations are for prime quality. We hold auction sales of grain and produce every Monday, and fruit daily.
We invite_ all farmers, when in town during the Winter Show, to inspect our seedcleaning plant.
