The Alleged Religious Strife at Cromwell.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Your Clyde correspondent in his inso< lent remarks upon my leiter has not said a single word in proof of the grave charge he insinuates against the Catholics of Cromwell oJ stirring up religious strife. You yourself, Mi Editor, do not thulk that the present Cromwell School teacher would be likely to make the dual position a success. Why, then, could not the only two Catholic committeemeh (one of whom, I see, is re-elected) be strongly of the same opinion without being accused by your correspondent of stirring up religious strife? The Catholics did not even form a majority of those on the committee opposed to the dual position This shows pretty clearly that religion had teally nothing to do with the dispute; but the accusation against the Catholics was s cry got up more convenient than honourable' tc thj party or parties responsible. I may say that I myself have not taken either side in this question, nor have the Catholics as a body so far as I know. This, sir, is admitted by the Cromwell Argus itself. As regards your flippant Clyde correspondent having failed utterly to make out his case against the Catholics of Cromwell, he must be content to be regarded by an impartial public as a deliberate mischief-maker himself, and ,unworthy of further notice.— l am, etc Cromwell, May 6. - G. M. HUNT, R.C.C
