A STICKING-UP CASE.
AN EXTRAORDINARY AFFAIR. KALGOORLIE, May 4. A sensational sticking-up case has been. ' reported to the police. Mr Mortimer, ■ paymaster at the Lake Consols mine, and ' a friend were driving from the bank to the : mine with a month's pay, consisting of ! of over £100 in silver in one box and about £5000 in. goJd and notes in another. They were stuck .up by a masked man when a mile and a-half from the town. The robber shot the horses and covered Mr Mortimer" with Ms revolver, demanding the money. The latter threw out the box containing the silver. Passers-by attempted to interfere, but the robber threatened them, and mounting" a horse he had ready, got away •with the silver. His horse, . coat, and mask 'ivere found later on neai I the town.
