PORTOBELLO.
The ordinary meeting qf the Portobello Road Board, held on the 29th inst., was attended by Messrs W. Dickson (in the chair), Edwards, Geary, Seaton, North, Milne, Macandrew, and Hinkley. — The Returning Officer reported that at the nominations on the 26th, no more than the required number had been received. The inspector's report, with slight alterations, was adopted. Mr Hughes' request to have put in a pipe culvert opposite Mr Riley's cowshed was granted. — The Toll Collector reported that £25 13s 9d had been collected for the month, of which £10 15s was for bicycles. — A petition was received from 12 settlers on the east side of Hooper's Inlet, requesting the board to take the necessary steps to have_ the grade reduced on the Hooper's Inlet district road. Received. — The Survey department wrote that the work on the Anderson's Bay bridge would be undertaken at their earliest convenience. — The Dairy department wrote that all dairies and stock would in future be inspected by that department by qualified veterinary surgeons. — The board then adjourned till Saturday, 6th inst.
