THE DUTY ON MINING MACHINERY.

AUCKLAND, April 25. A deputation representing the Chamber of Mines waited on the Hon. Mr Cadman in reference to the duty the Government charged on imported mining machinery. The Minister replied that the Premier was tho head of the Cu&toms department, and he would bring the matter under his notice. He "thpught as much machinery as possible should be manufactured in the' colony. Mr 5 Cadman leaves for Whangarei and Kawakawa to-morrow night, and returns on i (Saturday to transact further business in Auckland next week.
