Photos of Players. — In last week's Chrisfcchurch Press appears a page of photos of draughts players, including Messrs .•>. Jordan, now in Dunedin, and the lale James Wyllie. Of the late tournament players the pictures are given of Messrs \D. A. Brodie, J. A. Boreham, J. Mulvey, H. Montgomery, and J. Leggatt. There are 20 pictures in all, and the whole are well executed, although some of the photos aro several years old. Of the well-known players other than those already mentioned, good pictures are givon of Messrs J. B. Murray, H. Ww Kay, W. B. Hood, J. Little, "William Brownlce, and R. Boswell. Errata. — In the' table published last week showing an analysis of the tournament score sheet two slight errors occur. Mr Mulvey'a correct score is 16 wins, 19 draws, and 5 lost; Mr J. A. Scott's correct • score is 16 wins, 18 draws, and 6 lost. Scoring on a Game. — In an all-round tournament such as that just concluded ir Dunedin for the championship almost every player is prepared with special play on some opening or line of play. It is a common ihuig to find a player attempting the same opening on tvny opportunity. One player, for cxarnpie, lad spent some, time in preparation on a special line of the " Cross," but across the board he discovered he had worked up a losing game, and after a few attempts, each with the same lesult, he abandoned it. But ho never recovered the damage done to his score. The " Glasgow " seemed to be in favour with a, number of the players, one in particular scoring most of his wins with the black side of the opening. Brodie, on the other hand, woa 10 " Glasgows " with the white side, adopting in eacll caso the 25 22 line.
