BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION TRUSTEES.

The regular meeting of the Benevolent Institution Trustees was held on the sth inst., and'W^as attended by Messrs Solomon' (chairman), Haynos, Wilson, Treseder, Wat- ' son, and Gour,ley. For the corresponding month last ye?j the eases numbered 420, comprising 178 men, 306 women, and 613 children ; cost £110 33 6d per week. I The Chairman pointed out that there j was a decrease of 56 cases (38 mes, 38 women, and 20 children), nnd the saving in cost was £7 14s 6d per week. In reply to a question as to how the oldage pensions were affecting this department of charitable aid, the chairman Buid that during the month of March, in addition to the report of last week, thero 'would be 39 cases, representing 26 men and 19 women, at a further lessened cost of £8 14s per week. Mr Watson asked how many cases had been struck off altogether. The Chairman replied that there would be a total saving per week of £28 10s 6d, or about £1400 a year. Relief cases to the number of 30 were dealt with.
