MELBOURNE, April 11. A terrible tragedy occurred in the Eastern Market yesterday. A phrenologist named Gordon Medor attempted to shoot a Airs Stevens, and when the shot he fired at her failed to take effect he . severely belaboured her on the head with the weapon. Stevens rushed to his wife's assistance, but Medor shot him dead and afterwards cut his victim's throat. A man named Freedman next appeared on the scene, and Medor stabbed him severely in the eye. Medor, who was arrested with great difficulty, was under the impression that ' the other stallholders were trying to dei prive him of the means of earning a "- j livelihood.
