fFKOM OUB OWH CORRBBPOWDMITT.) LYELL, April 7. Alpine. — The Manager reports: In the etopes at the back of No. 9 level work has been continned, and the etono has been run out in the top stope; but as there is still a good hanging wall from which a quantity of water is percolating, I intend in a few days' time to put in an uprise to ascertain if the reef will make again. There atill remains a small quantity of stono of good quality to take out of the stopes. Sloping has also been progressing at the back of No. 11 level, tho reef being from sft to 7ft in width, and so far of payable quality. The uprise above No. 10 level, to connect with tho winze in the north end of No. 9 leva], has been taken up for a height of 12ft (with four men). A little stone is being curried up, but a stratum of mullock will have to be passed through before the reef under No. 9

level is struck-. ..The 'intermediate above No. 11 level haa been driven 12ft south, making a. total length of 18ft. Two slabs of stone, each about 15in in width, separated by a hard bar ol mullock about 2ft wide, are being carried along. The stop© is of fair quality. The north extension of No. 11 level is now in for a distance of 190fK On Monday last about 6in of ston« came in, which has now widened out to 4ft 6in. It is clean, solid stone, well defined, and sof far is of good quality. The quantity of stone sent to the battery is 220 tons for seven days.
