The Alleged Religions Strife at Cromwell. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, — Tho Clyde correspondent in your ''asut. of tho 23rd •of this month so misrepresents tho facts of the case as to lead his readers to ir.for that the Roman Catholics of Cromwell are Btirring up religious strife in the local school dispute. I\ow, Sir, I am not aware that th?-<. ii nny such strife in the matter. In the next place, I can most certainly testify that thnro 'a ■nor.a' as far ns the Roman Catholics arc conferred. Again, the charge is absurd, one would *hink, on the face of it, seeing thai the Catho'ica are in such a hopeless minority. By auch '•-;'-" tics we Catholics would have everything to !csc and nothing to gain. So far is this accusation of rchgiovi^ 31.-113 at Cromwell from the truth that wien a naughty little boy attempted lately io chr'lc up "No Popery/ he was promptly expostd, to their credit be it said, by tho non-Catholics themselves. In fact, as far as religion is concerned, all classes at Cromwell have hitherto managed to live together with remarkable good will and harmony. We need no" officious peacemukers, who, in the name of -peace, would do their level best to. provoke, a quarrel. Your correspondent says that the "Argui, standing on its own dignity, never once referred to the unsavoury business." This Jr. prettycool, considering that it was one of the Argu./ supporters who was charged with, and did net deny, the unsavoury business spoken of. 'Ihoss who know these facts might think that tlia Argus was wise in its generation not to re'er to the matter, and to such your correspondent's talk about the "dignity of the Argus in not ieferring, etc., might sound rathei Pecksniffinn. Hoping, Sir, that you will be ablo to sp*ra space for this defence against an unjustifiabla attack upon the Catholics of Cromwell. — I am, G-. M. HUNT, R.C C. Cromwell, March 31.
