Just before entering the Abingdon Mile bottom Velasquez was at the giiths of Cylleao, and thoie was the chance of a race between the pair, but this was removed when they "got on the collar, ' as Cyllene then drew clean away, and with no response forthcoming, he won by six lengths, Velasquez saving second placo fiom Chelandry by a head. In descending the Bushes Hill Collar passed Greeuan, and although dead tired in the AbingcTon Mile Bottom, he was nursed for one effort, and a fine race ended with the verdict credited to Galashiels by a head.
