BOARD OF GOVERNORS.

The monthly meeting of the High Schools Board of Governors, held on Monday, was attended by Dr Brown (chairman), Dr Shand, Messrs G. G. Russell, J. M. Gallaway, and E. B. Cargill (mayor). Mr J. R. Sinclair wrote expressing his inability to be present. Accounts amounting to £545 5s 9d were passed for payment. A letter from tho Anderson's Bay School Committee, asking the board to reconsider their decision to modify the grant of free educition, was received, and consideration held o/er. — Mr J. M. Gallaway pave notice of motion for tho December meeting to rescind the nxition passed at the board's last meeting modifying the grant of free education.

The board's legal advisers (Messrs Duncan and MacGregor) wrote advising that the board could not be forced to part with land to the Dunedin and Kaikorai Tram Company.
