THE MAPOURIKA. WELLINGTON, October 29.
News from Greymouth states that the heaviest sea known for years rolled in from the north last night, and the Mapourika came in 30ft aft and 15ft forward, but suffered no damage so far as could be seen. The appearance of the beach was entirely changed for the worse. This morning the weather moderated. The storm will have had a serious effect on the preparations for launching, as the vessel seems to have slewed round to exactly the opposite position to that wanted.
At last week's meeting of the NorthEn'pt Valley Borough Council the General Committee reported that 34dairies had been inspected, and certificates issued. While all were in a healthy condition, those belonging to John Campbell, Richard Cleave, D. M'Gregor, T. Murphy, Isaac Green, James M'Gregor, and James Farquharson were specially commended foi purity of water supply, general comfort, and. oleanlineas.— The reoort was adopted.
