STATISTICAL WELLINGTON, October 27.

During tlie quarter ended 30th September, 1898, 66,6420z gold, of the value oi £254,031, were exported from New Zealand, being an increase of 64200z as compared 'with the corresponding quarter last year. Auckland district shows an increase of 13,9530z, while there is a considerable falling-off in the returns from the West Coast and Otago. The postal » and telegraph revenue for the September quarter snows a substantial increase in both departments. The customs duties collected throughout New Zealand during the September quarter amounted to £529,581 ; ♦as against £502,528 for the corresponding period last year. The totals for the principal ports were:— Auckland, £128,644, as against £130,942 for the September quarter of 1897*; Wellington, £125,851, as against £113,083; Lyttelton. and Christchurch, £81,098, as against £76,173; Dunedin, 106,001, as against £101,708.
