An Auokland telegram states that the Auckland carters have decided to form a union, undec the Conciliation and Arbitration Act. It was also resolved to congratulate the Premier on the passing of the Old Age Pensions Bill. Mr Slater was nominated as - a member of the Arbitration Court.

WESTPORT COAL COMPANY.

WESTPORT, October 28. At the District Court the Westport Coal Company's appeal against the recent decision of the Magistrate's Court fining them £5 Is for a breach of the industrial agreement with the workers resulted in quashing the judgment of the lower court. The Westport Coal Company and their employees have mutually arranged an agreement for working the mines for the ensuing year without recourse to the Arbitration Court.
