lim«M(d by s 4uly qnallllod Veterinary Surf ton tin j-oecMdinr l"ni».1 Rata. — The small boils or lumps on your mare's back are sometimes a great annoyance to horses, especially if they burst and suppurate, as they cause a sore which is often very obstinate to heal. Bathe the ba^k daily with a strong solution of alum and use the following medicine: — Sublimed sulphur 2oz, nitrate of potash loz, black antimony loz, pulverised gentian 2oz, and pulverised fenugreek 2oz; mix and give a tablespoonful in her evening food. E. P. — Foals brought up by hand should have cow's milk newly drawn from only one cow, and diluted with a little water at the same temperature as the milk, with a little sugar added to it, allowing tho youngster very little at a time, but often, for the first few weeks. Wo other food is required — neither linseed nor oilcake. Ajax. — The short history you gave of your sheep was too meagre for diagnostic purposes. You forgot to mention the sex, whether fat wether or brood ewes, two-tooths or hoggets. You said they were shifted on to a fresh paddock, but failed to say whether it was £iass or turnips which apparently provoked the fatal outbreak. Probably they had been suffering slightly from lung woim (Stronguli bronchial!), and got heated with the excitement, and subsequently chilled, ending in a fatal attack of pneumonia; but in the absence of a personal examination it would be impossible to say definitely what was tho cause of the mortality in your flock.
