CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
i The ordinary meeting of the Charitable Aid | Board, held oi\ Thursday, was attended by Messrs James Green (chairman), "Wilson, Baxter, Hazlett, Miller, Clark, and Haynes. j Requisitions as follows n r ore passed for payment : — Benevolent institution, £800 ; Iv»- ' dußtrial School. Caverpham, £693 2s ; Female Refuge, £15; Industrial School, Burnham, £4- 4s 6d. * j The Chairman reported that the Cludia County Council and the Koslyn Borough Council had not paid their contributions, both bodies being five months in arrears.-- , The Secretary reported that lie had written to ihe County Council, and regarding the j Roslyn Council, it was ropor{cd that the ! matter was in the hands of the board's solicitor. The audited accounts for the year wore laid on the table.
A man r.runsd Marian Burke met, with a terrible death as the result of an accident on Warraweenci station, YiCioria. Burke cainpcd under a, tree, leaving a -fire burning. The tree fell upon him during the night, pinning him down, fracturing his breastbone, and breaking five ribs. He lay in that position all night. Next morninp; two station hands released him. They found that the fi.ro had burnt alonß the tree to within 2ft of tho body. Ho was brought into Bourke Hospital kcxl night, and after suffering dreadful agony died the following morning.
