OBITUARY.
Mr Adam Bfgg, for 6ome 49 jears a resident •of Andereou'a Bay, died at his residence on Wednesday, 17th. He w»s born in tbe parish of StTAitoo, Ayrshire, od August 17, 1812; no that, singularly enough, he diwl on li\% eighty-sixth birthday. Mr Begg vr&s for sirme 1 ime stationmas' or at Dilkeith for ihe North British RailT?ay Cocap«BY. He decided to emigr&U>, and amved in Otago in September, 1848, in the ship Bluadell. He innmediafcelv took up his residence at Anderson's B*y, and, having built a houee, prc-oeedsd to cultivate bi* land. He has practically resided on his eekction ever *ince. He took a keen and intelligent interest in all matters &ffictii'g {he colony and district He feaa b«n a menit er of the? Road B wd and School Con:n)i't«-t", and a trustee cf the cereetety. S3r B. gg purchased a considerable area of land ft H'ilend, where two of his S' ns <v«*rry on firming opfraMons. Hie other two s»n* — Mf M. Begg (of Oakden and Begg) and Mr T. Begg- carry on busiuefs in Dunedin. He pho leaves two deugbters— Mrs J*r~r* Sf>m° T ville acd Mrs Wilson.
Mrs Catherine lA&fcfcr, relied oi tu>- late Captain Thomas Frases\ M.L.C., died on Thursday morning at her refideuce, Sfc. David etreefc, after a brie? but severe illness. The deceased lady was well known and greatly respected thiongbout the coiccy, having resided for mnre or less britf periods at Christcburcli, Wellington, and Auckland since btrt arrival in the colony with ber hatband in 1858 Of la + c years she has travelled si good deal, w.d but recently p*jd a visit to the old country. She kaves four sons— Mr T. A. Frater (Stock depftitmeat), Mr J. F. M F.a^f-r (Cr->wn pror-cu'ur), Mr Ivan Fraser (New South Wa'ee), and Mr Christian Frsser.
