The North Otago Times says:— There is a great mortality amongst cattle all over the district. We have heard of one small settlev who has lost 18 head, and of others who hava lost lesser numbers. Ono party who pub seven head on the Waitaki Islands on going to look after them found them all dead:; another lost 11 out of 13 head put to grazes ki the same place. At Hampden the mortality has also been great. The soarcity of feed has so weakened stock that they are unable to stand the cold and Met.
