DUNE DIN CYCLING CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Dunedin Cycling Club -was held in tlie Chamber of Commerce on the 17th. mat. The chair was occupied by JJr Eoberts, and the/c was a good attendance.

Several apologies for non-atteudance were re-

ceived. ! The annual report, which, has already "been published, was taken as read. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, stated that the

position of the club had greatly improved during the past year. The club's gross credit balance was £300, and the assets JL'IOO, there being no liabilities. That condition of affairs must

.be highly satisfactory to the members of the club. Cycling generally had a very healthy appearance. It seemed to be a very popular pastime with all classes of the community, and it was considerably on the increase. The outgoing committee had covered themselves with glory for tho exceedingly excellent way in which they had carried out the duties entrusted to them,- the result being that the club could congratulate itself on being in the premier position of any athletic club in the colony — (applause) — not only in regard to members, but also in vegard to its financial strength. He moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet. Mr Moodie seconded the motion. He stated that there was ao jdoubi that the club was the club of New Zealand. It v/as a wise thing „-when they went over io the league. With carsful management, he thought the club would be next year in the satue satisfactory position that it was this year. j Mr Howlett was soruy to introduce a discordant note. The report in one respect was (very scrappy. For instance, it referred to the [building of tiie new club room. The lcport did ■not give any idea of the liability the club intcurred with these rooms — the terms of the lease, ,tne rent, or anything. Those particulars ought jto have been given in the report. The club have incurred very serious liability. If Tumour were correct, it had done so. Informaiijii should be given on the subject. "' ITr Sullivan said that the committee had re- ' ceived the power last year to act m Ihis matter. t They had, in con&equence, accepted the lease i dor five years of suitable rooms erected to the {club's satisfaction at a Tent of £100 per anniim, rates to be paid. The club was not putting ■lip the building at all. At present tne club was paying £15 for rent, and wifcu its satisfactory finances it could well afford another £30 per - fli/jfam. ', I In reply to Mr Fiuch, Mr Sullivan said that ,1 jthe club was registered under ihe Unclassified j . "Societies Act. j

Mr Howlett draw attention lo the sum of £51 Which was charged as rent for the ground. He j&hought that sum was a scandalous overcharga. {Something should be done to get another track. JFifty pounds would represent the interest on a good round sum. "The report was then adopted. MEDALS.
