NORTHERN FOOTLIGHT FLASHES.

Dear Pasquin, — Perrier's Auckland Juvenile Oper.v Company is the title given to the newlyformed lihputian company organised by -Mr and Mrs Perrier, who opened for a brief sea-son at the Opera House last month in the original coniie opera "Natisha." Tho company were greeted with very fair houses during their fivenights' season. The show is at present touring the goidfields, and if all goes well a tour of the colonies will most probably follow. Mr James JarLieson, a member of the Auckland City; Council, has been acting as treasurer for the company. Tho Hellers and company commenced a short season at the Opera House on Saturday night, August 6, and business has so far been fairly good. The opening performance was under tho patronage of the Canterbury and local footballers.

The Auckland "Society Amateurs" are rehearsing "Land of the Living," to be staged at an early date. Tho Auckland Amateur Opera Club will produce "Les Cloches de Corneville" on the 24th. of this month at the Opera House. Mr John E. Cullen's fourth annual footballers' night took place at the Agricultural Hall on Saturday night before a large audience. A football match, composed of '10 players, took pla^e upon the stage. Mr Cullen announced that the referee wa3 in excellent form, having practised blowing the Kauri Timber Company's lunch whistle for soice considerable time. Budd's Kinetnatograuh was shown at the Opera House last woek," for a season of three nights, Mr John J. liitson, eccentric dancer and comedian, and Mr Percy E. Dix, limelight delineator, assisting. The Alfred Woods dramatic combination are lo open here at tho beginning of September. The benefit tendered to the Greenwoods will take place at the Opera House about the middle of tho month. The entertainment promises to be a great affair. The Agricultural Hall, which is owned bfl the City Council, is one of the dirtiest halls in the city, and wants looking after badly. Mr John J. Ritson intends settling in Auck-i land, and will teach various kinds of stage danc-« ing. Budd's Einematograph and company hays be-:n doing the suburbs during the last four day 3. Tho company leave for the south this week.
