ST. PETERSBURG, August 15,
The Russian newspapers compliment Sir >W. Vernon Harcourt on his speeches in connection with the Chinese question, and commend Lord Salisbury's utterances. The ssrni-official St. Petersburg journal says that the English newspapers have been misinformed as to recent events with regard io Russia's alleged intention to Injure the economic interests of Great Britain.
ST. PETERSBURG. August 16> The St. Petersburg Journal says that Hussia has no intention to injure the economic interests of Great Britain in China.
SHANGHAI, August 15. It is stated that Russia is intriguing to obtain control over the maritime customs of China.
Li Hung Chang denies that the Tsung-li-.Yamen has been truckling to Russia, and states that there is no intention to cause humiliation to Great Britain.
LONDON, August 15. It is reported that Lord Salisbury contemplates demanding Li Hung's dismissal.
