Sib —In a recent issxie of the Register, published by Harcourt and Co., Wellington, I read a short article taken from a British paper re bran water for milking cows. My own papsing expedience of what 1 saw in England may interest some. No cUmbl the heading .vill startle some of what " Ovis " courteously terms "the bovme members of our community. lift me hasten to explain that nearly 50 years a^o I was farming near a very large J .nertiah town, now a city— Liverpool. One season I had^ a lot of swede turnips— more than I requupci— and I sold a quantity to a town milkmnn- "Hum was the way he treated them . Tie bad a Urge boiler, in winch be boiled a quantity to a pulp, mixed bran and pollard with the mess until it was of thu consistence of Ihin porridge, and led Ins cows, a Ducketfu) at each meal. The result was oceans of milk, but I will not vouch for its quality. I may add that the cows were chiefly shorthorns, nearly always iv full profit. an< 3- owing to his treatment, always fair beef. At the slightest sign of their "falling off" in their milk, they were sold to the butcher and replaced.
