LAND ROAD.
The ordinary meeting of tho Land Board, held on Wednesday afternoon, was p'.tn^ded by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chairin. 1 a), Cl"rk, Dallas, Duncan, and Kirkpalrick. "Ranker Mackenzie lepoited upon the application by Wm. Fraser for a license to occupy sect.oii 3, block I, Fiascr district.— A ynsi's license was granted under section 116 of the act at a rental of Gd per acre.
The Clutha County Council requested thai the temporary reserve for a road along sections 2 and 35, block XI, town of Kel&o, be mads a permanent load. — Referred to the chief surveyor lo have tbe road in question marked off as a permanent road. Ranger Atkinson forwaided a, report upon sections 8 and 9, block X, Naseby district, and &ii fa -gcsted capital values.— lt was dcu'ded to lccmnmcnd section 8 for notification at a capital value of 15s per acre, and section 9 at a capital value of 12s Gd per acre; to be ottered grouped, with valuation for imnrovemonls 5257 5s Gd.
Barbtua Palerron, lessee, of small grazing lun, section 3, block XI, Strath-Taien, requested pei mission lo plough and lay down in grass tins facasoa about 70 acres of her run.— Cons: delation of tho matter was deferred until a report bad been received fiom tho ranker. Mrs Maignrct Charles applied for section 16, block Til, Ltvudor distiict, on lease in perpetuity.—The .application was granted. The Receiver of Land Revenue repoitcd that Arthur Gwyn, Mary Cameion, John A. Orbell, and W. HevxLolds, whose holdings had been
declared forfeited, had now paid all arrears. — • The resolutions forfeiting tho holdings were rescinded.
Hugh M'CJ-regor applied for section 1 of 11, block I, Akatore (rural land), on lease in perpetuity. — Approved. An application by Richard Coker to be allowed to surrender section 15, block XI, Woodland district, was referred to Ranger Hughan to Teport. The following applications to transfer email grazing runs were approved.: — The administrators of R. M'Ddnald's estate to Duncan Orr, sections 5 and 6, block VIII, Kuriwao district; D. M'Donald to Robert Orr, sections 12 and 13, block VIII, same district. An application by William Thomson to bo allowed to transfer section 55, block IV, M'aungatua district, and parts of river section 47, West Taieri, to Andrew Thomson was recommended for the approval of the Minister. An application by Thos. Eccles, jun., to be allowed to transfer section 91, block 11, Ardgowan estate, to David Brodie Park was referred to Ranger Atkinson to report. An application by F. W. Hill to complete purchase oi deferred payment sections 23, 24, and 25, block VIII, Kurow, was approved.
Alexander M'Donald, lessee of section 30, block 111, Tokarahi estate, applied for exemption from residence upon this section. — Exemption waa granted in the meantime. W. J. Bolt, on behalf of the Taieri and Peninsula Milk Supply Company, wrote stating that the company did not now desiro to purchase portion of section 7G, block IV, Moeroki district, having purchased the creamery and freehold adjoining. Ho also asked that the survey fees lodged be refunded It was decided to refund the survey fees.
M. Milligau applied for exemption from residence upon section 16, block XI, Tautuku district. — It was resolved to allow time to effect residence.
The Maniototo and Vincent County Councils forwarded statements of proposed expenditure o£ " thirds " and " fourths " for tbe period January 1, 1898, to March 31, 1898.— The proposed expenditure was approved. Ranger Hugh an reported upon an application by James Ross for a license to occupy an area of about 10 acres adjoining section 14, block XIX, Tuapeka East district.— The application was declined.
Eaiiger Ilnghan reported upon an application by Robert Cotton for a license to occupy two acres at Evans Flat, block XIX, Tuapeka East — A year's license was granted xinder soction 116 of the act at a rental of 10s.
The Vincent County applied to have a small area of the Manuherikia River, known as tho Mannherilda Junction Cemeteiy, on Run 256, reserved as an area for a cemetery. — The board decided to recommend the reservation of the area referred to as a cemetery on the council forwarding a suivey plan of the same.
