The total number of persons who arrived in the colony in May was 1211 ; and the number who left, 16H. The respective figures in May, 1897, were 1052 and 1578. The Falls of Niagara are to be lighted by acetylene lamps and reflecton. Trials made have been fairly successful, though the light is not so brilliant as the electric arc.
