NEW ZEALAND UNIVERSITY.
The New Zealand University Senate has conferred the B.A. degree on the following candidate* from the Otago University .-—Misses Baird, Bauchop, Campbell, L. Fenwick, MacGtegoy. and Thomson, Messrs Bertram, Crawford, Dunlop, FergusoD, Hunter, Miller, Marshall, 8. A. Moore, R. Moore, Thomson, Williams, Willson, and Wyllie. Bachelor ol Science : Messrs Brugb. and Skey.
According to a message in the Post from a Palmerston North correspondent, Mr Pirani has telegraphed to the Premier : "If you will resign and contest Palmerston, I will do like* wise."
P.D. Grand President Bro. A. Morrison (M.H R.), and Grand Secretary Bro. Shelton, of the D.O. Lodge of Otago and Southland, paid an official visit to the Invereargill Lodge on "'/FedJiesday 'evening, Ist, and at the close of Sha business were entertained at a banquet, when Bro. Morrißon took advantage of the occasion to extoll the merits of the present Government and their policy. Friendly societies usually exclude politics even at banquets, because it is presumed that members of all parties belong to them.
