HENLEY.
April 13. — A concert and ball were held in the Henley Public Hall on Friday evening, the 15th, for the purpose of raising funds to defray the expenses for painting the hail. The weather was all that could be desired for the occasion, and there was a good altoiidance, which must have been pleasing to all parties interested. Mr Dixon acted as chairman, and .Miss Lizzie M'Kegg presided at the piano. Mr and Mrs W. Stevenson were called upon ■to open the proceedings with a violin and pianoforte selection, winch they executed with taste and precision. Songs were sung by Misses Craigie and Morgan, Mrs Yorston and Mrs Dixon, Messrs Morton, Molhson, Williams, and Hall, while Mr Allan contributed piano and violin selections, each item being well received. Mr Thomas Walsh's comic Recitations caused considerable merriment. The dance which followed was largely patronised, and was entered into with great spuit. The music was supplied by Mr W. Stevenson, who was ably assisted by Messrs P. Ralston and Allan, while Mr Thomas .Walsh officiated ag M.C., and gave general satisfaction, throughout. At half-past 3 o'clock the last dance was announced, when all went home apparently highly pleased with their night's amusement.
