FROEZEN TO DEATH.
Hawera, April 12. A shocking occurrerico ia reported from Mount Egmonb. On Sunday morning two men, C. R. Bpaamonc (married, with a large family) and J. T. M'G-lofih (single), left for the summit, bub did col tsturn. A search parly found them at; raid-day yesU-rday at the bottom of tho glacier dead, and frozea hard. A party has gone eufe to-day to bring tho bodies down. Both are well-known and highly-esteemed residents of Ha>vera. Aprii 15. The victims of the mountain accident wasra brought to Hawera. At the inquest a verdicb of "Accidental dcatb " was returned.- Beaumont had evidently diad from & fall, and M'Geoch from exposure. Chief Defective Chryslall and Detective Marsack, Christchurch, entered the alleged betting shops of Martin Taylor and J. Higgins, turf commission agents, seizing all the books and papers on the premises referring to turf transactions. No arrests were made, but further developments ara anticipated.
