The egg has always baen a favourite humor" our subj o cfc for variety performers in the " side" walk conversation " "line, observes the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Prom *he vaudeville stage these jokes are scattered around by a public that likes its humour served up in simple sbyle. Nothing delights gome people more than a bib of fun with a little sell in ib. Most of the egg jokes are of this sort. Ab a small social gathering fchc other night somebody started ths egg joke rolling " Did jou ever hear the story of the hardboiled cg ' ?" he solemnly inquired of some one across the table. " No," was the innocanfc answer. " Ifc'a hard fco beat," said fcbe joker with much gravity. You caEs'fc help smiling ab these things, and after tho laugh died dt>wn somebody elss sprang this : "Did anybody hear about the egg in ths coffee'?" " No," gaid »d obliging somebody. " Thab settles it," remarked the fuany man, blandly. Of coarse there was auofcher laugh, and then a brief silence. Ifc looked as if tbe egg jokes had been exhausted. Bub presently a little woman afc one end of the table iEquired in a high soprauo voice if anybody present had heard the sfcory of the three eggs. The guests shook their heads, and one mac said "No " Tbe lifcrle woman smiled. " Two bad," she said.
