OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Otago Football Association was held on the 14-th inst. in the O-ffee Palace and was attended by about 20 delegatea from the Northern, Rangers, Roslyn, Green Island, Wakari, and Southern Clubs. Mr J. S3. Nicholson occupied the chair. In moviL'g the adoption of the report, which ha<J already b?eu published, the Ciiairman congratuiated the association on the progress that had been m*de in the game during the past season, aud he was pleased to note the improved condition of the finances. The motion for adoption was seconded by Mr Davie and carried. Toe balauee sheet, which showed that the association was in a much better position than last year, was adopted. Mr KrMNiTZ expressed his pleasure at seeing thab t.he game was gaining in popularity. There were now two new clubs — the Wakari [ and the Southern— in existence. Tno Southern and Wakari were affiliated to the' association. It was decided to grant a change of colours to the Groeu Island Club. The following office-bearers were elected :— Dr Macphjrsun, president ; Meesra S. S. Myers; J. M'MslUn, and tho Rev. A. North, 'vicepresidents ; Mr G. D. Cameron, secretary ; Mr J. M. Nicholson, treasurer ; and Messrs T. Ashton, C. Ddvio, W. Gt. Smith, A. Sligo jun., and A. North, a committee. Ib was decided to starb the playing of matches on the 7th BJiy. Votes of tbauks were passed to the retiring committee, chairman, press, &3., and the meet* ing terminated. # The Southland Acclimatisation Society has received thres young red deer from the north, and they have meantime been placed with Mr James Gardoer, B.rchwood, by Mr A, N. Campbell, curator. - Four boxes of salmon ova came consigned to the Government by the Rangatira, and will be sent to the Otago Acclimatisation Society. Ou i examination of the ova it was found that part ! were dead.

Some time duriDg Saturday night the Black Horse Hotel, Chcisfcchurch, near Sunnyside Asylum, was burglariously entered, and the safe was removed. Ttiis morning the sife was found with the back cut out in a paddock about 400jd» away, with two sledge hammers and other blacksmith's tools alongside ib. The landlord had taken his cashbox with the money up to his rcom, and nothing valuable was left in the safe. The .burglary was evidently the work of experienced safe smashers, who gob nothing for their pains. About three years ago the seme hotel had a similar experience, but on that occasion £40 vms secured.
