NO POISON FOUND.
Napieb, April 6.
Tbe adjourned inquest on the bodies of the twins, on the charge of murdering which Mr and Mrs Tyson are remanded, led to startling developments. At ths opening of the inquest two doctors gave evidence that one child died from irritant poison, this being diagnosed from the appearance of the stomach and other organs. In the second case these symptoms were not present. The stomachs of both were sent to Wellington to be analysed. A telegram from the analyst was read at the adjourned inquest stating that no poison was found in the exhibits sent. The jury found a unanimous verdict that there was no evidence to show how the children came to their death. Afterwards the magistrates were applied to to release Mr and Mrs Tyson on bail, which was granted, the justices
remarking th&t the result of the inquest pra» tically proved their innocence.
"That extraordinary botch of an act, th^ Contractors' Lien Act," said the Wellington official assignee at a recent meetiDg oi creditors.
A public meeting at Wellington on thfl evening of the 16th, presided over by the; mayor, carried a resolution urging tha City Council to take a poll of the ratepayers' with reference to establishing a crematorium' in the city. Several ladies were present, and the majority favoured cremation. \ The petroleum bore at Moturoa, TaranaH reached 2050 ft on the 6lb, when boring was sus-j pended. The bore was found to ba nearly filled! with water, andafterpumpingineffectually for an hour and a-half the water was suddenly projected to a height of 60ft, and flowed for some minutes) The same thing occurred an hour later. Gas is heard roaring below, and it is hoped that when tubing is lowered a good supply of oil will bf found. . ' f
