HIGH SCHOOLS BOARD.
A meeting of the High Schools Board of Governors, held on Thursday, was attended by Dr Brown (chairman), Messrs G. G. Russell, J. U. Sinclair, and J. M. Gallaway.
Accounts amounting to £505 5s lid were passed for payment. The Secretary reported that runs 161 and 182, Slopedown and Mokoreba, had been taken up at auction by Mr D. K. M'Rae at the upset of 4d per acre, or £518 6s 2d per annum, which was an advance a£ £149 11s 6d over the previous rent.
Memoranda were ifad from the actiugrector of the Boys,' High School to the effect th;».fc Heury Barton, a pupil of the school, had gained a junior university scholarship. Thus five of the 14 scholarships offered had been gained by pupils of the Otago Boys and Girls High Schools,— The secretary to convey con* gratulations to Mr Watson.
