Interesting as these enterprising issues now are, they will grow infinitely more valuable in a f«w years' time, when the people with w?u>r& they largely denl have^passed away."
Southl&cd Times : " The number contains .iKuslranoas of the prcoession from various standpoints, z.n& also several striking views of Dunedin as it is to-day. . . . Not the least valuable portion of the number is the chronological record of the years from 1840 to 1898 inclusive, and this as a work of reference vrill be valuable >o many."
Southern Standard : " '.Tfc« .Chronological Reccrd o£ th« a«( Element, cf Otago. issued as a.&upjjl(?mentaiy nt>raheE to the Otago Daily Times and Witness Jubilee Supplement . . cannot but be of the greatest interest to all who are in any way connected with the province. Numerous illustrations are dispersed ihroughcufc it, some reproductions of. .old jv-!n.ieal cartoons b«*ing gpeciaHy in^r-jSfJirig 1 . At. the end of the work v a chrcmologicnl index of the -sefci!ejns"3t of, O;«*go from 1840 to 1898. It alone occupies nearly 12 pages, and denotes the lemarkable' energy and inoustvy that have been devoted to the production." Tjmaru Herald : " The supplement is of a raws interesting character,* and bound with the JabiUe number of the Witness should find a place in the home ot every resident of Otago."
South Canterbury Times: "The Record sboald prove very useful to many as a work of reference. . . , ' Old Identiana ' is a collection of incidents, anecdi-tes, &c, of the early rtayp, and a chronological index covers the ys^rs from 1840 to 1598."
Tuapeka Titaea: "The Chronological Record and supplementary Jubilee number issued by the Daily Times and Witness Company is ur. questionably the best and most useful periodical production that the Otago Jubilee has given birth to. All the most important and striking incidents of the Jubilee week are brought out in a number of excellently execated illustrations, besides which there is a very fine illustration of the Industrial Exhibition, 150 additional pictures of early settlers, and no less than 450 pithily written biographical sketches. There is also a collection of incident?, anecdote*, &c, of the early days and a chronological index from 1840 to 1898, from which no event is missing that may be either useful or interesting to any member of the commupity. In this respect it is at once a history of Otago and a work of reference — a kind of historical ready reckoner, which may with confidence be consulted to fix, locate, or decide the date of any important event from the foundation cf the province to the present day v If only ac a medium of reference no one should be without it."
Mataura Ensign i "If possible, this issue is even more interesting than the Jubilee
number ptoper, containing as it does excellent process illustrations, depicting the procession at various points, interesting departments of the exhibition, the opening ceremony, &0., &c. . , , Under the heading ' Old Identiana ' are set out in excellent -arrangement a budget of incidents, anecdotes, &c, of the early time?, and a chronological index, embracing the salient features of the history of the province from 1840 to 1898."
Ohristchurch Daily Press i "It is a memento of the Jubilee which everyone interested in thas evenfe will, no doubt, hasten to secure."
