March 14 — We are now having real summer •weather, and everybody seems to appreciate it. Crops are making good progress towards ripeninp, Tjut although a few are euttinn harvest wi'i not bo general for 10 days or a fortnight yet. The warm weather has- bi ought the turnips away wonderfully. Taking the turnip crop en the whole it will be up to the average, although there are a few paddocks a little patchy. eoißts — The s-oi;ee m connection with the cliuicb. building fund came off on the 23rd ult. The day was line, and towards evening people began to roil up from ai! quarters till the room was tilled to the dear. The school was tast-f ully decorated with ferns and mottoes, the Litter being artistically and tastefully executed by the Blisse"? Tanner, i'at'-r.-on, and M'Dooald The ladies of the district provided tho eatables, which were banded round at the opening and close of the entertainment. Votes of thanks were accorded to the speaker?, ihe-singert, and the ladies who provided the eatables by Messrs A. Cowie, T. Palerson, and C. M'ltae (BranlnO re^peciu'ely. The net proceeds taken amounted to £9, the largest bum realised fo far.

Obil'L'ahv — It i-; with regret that I have to recoid the death of Mr Angu- M'Ma-te/, a young man in the prime of life, who died on Tuesday night after a week's ilhie^.i. He was the second ana ycuugest son of tbc late Mr Jamas M'Muster, formerly cf Green liland, who died nut many months ago Deceased was a respected ic-ident of the district. Whatever he took in hand to do ivai always done in a commendable manner Widespread sympathy is full for those left behind. Hl3 ramains were followed to the Winton Cemetery by a very large conrour.se of p?op!e. The Hay. Mr Baiid and Mr M'Caw officiated at the grave. Church.— Yesterday (Sunday) there was alar^e congregation afc church service, v hen Mr ftl'Caw preached an imp:e33ive ssrmon and made iolcmu reference to the late Mr A. Kf 'Master.
