March 19. — The weather although cold is very favourable for harvesting, and the rattle of tho reaper on every side is a guarantee that the opportunity is beirft; embraced.
Invalided. — I regret to hear that after several weelss of suffering from influenza Mr IT. Douglas has been ordered by his medical adviser to seek a change of air, and therefore purposes taking a trip to the North Island, and afterward, slio-ald lie show no sign of improvement he will visit the Australian colonies.
Obittjahy. — The many friends of Mr Andrew Siinson, sen., will regret to learn of his death, which occurred on Thursdry at his residence, Coal Point. Deceased has been farming at Warjgalon for upwards of 20 years, and was ,highly respected by his neighbours, who sympathise wjth the widow and family in taeir sad and sud'ler bereavement.
School.— ln commemoration of the jubilee of the Otago settlement the school committee, at a meeting held on Thiu-sda.y, decided to give the 2->upi!s and teachers one week's holidays.
HoLiDAY-irAKiNG-.— There lias been during tlie past veelc a steady exodus of residents, old and young, io participate in tha jubilee festivities at Dune-lin.
EtfTEETAiriJExr.— The Braps Band purpose having nr. entertainment in oid of their funds next month, the. success of which can be easilypredicted.
