SALE OF PICTURES.
The sale of tbe late Mr Hodgkins's pictures, by
Messrs Park, Reynolds, and Co., on the 15th was numerously attended, practically all the picture fanciers and buyers of Dunedin, and some from Canterbury and tbe north, being present or represented. Mi* Hodgkins's small sketches sold freely, and were well distributed among a largo number of buyers at fair prices. The large finished picture elicited strong competition Gully's pictures were sold at from £5 to £o 10s each. Gifford's "Deserted Shora" brought £8; Ayerst Ingiam's pictures brought £8 and £S 10s respectively ; Wimperis'a "Carting Sand," £15 10a ; an unsigned oil painting, "Scene in Wales," £6 ; Condor's "Su miner Sketch," £6 ; Docherty's " River Orchie," £5 10s ; and a small sketch by Atkinson, £'i. At the conclusion of tbe sale of Mr Hodgkins's collection a supplementary list was offered, consisting of works by Nerli, "Distop, Ayei-st Ingram, and H. C. Fox, all oE which went off at satisfactory prices, a very small Fox bringing £7.
