POHLEN ACQUITTED AS INSANE. Auckland. March 11. Heinrich Pohlen, ch*rged at the Supreme Court to-day with tbe murder of Patrick j Corcoran at Pirongia on November 12, pleaded ! net guilty. Tsrence Corcoran, son of the deceased, deposed that he and his father were | withdrawing posts inserted by John Pohlen. A • sen of the accused waa putting in other posts on a ] disputed boundary, when the accused cams up : ■with a gun, said somcit'flin^ about. Queen Victoria, and shot Patrick Corcoran, who died [ almost instantly. The witness admitted that ; there had be-n bad feeling between the \ families for some time concerning the land in { dispute. ■ The defence wss that the accused had nob been > of Round mind for some time, aud was not I responsible for his actions. j Tha jury relumed a verdicb of " Nob guilty " \ on the ground of insanity. | Mr Ju«t?ea Coaolly committed the prisoner I to thfs asylum pending the pleasure of tha !
