I H : s Excellency the Governor, on his arrival j afc Kokonga yesterday, was met by Mr GufSs I (mayor) and members of the Borough Council ;of Nasseby and the county chairman. The town was en fete on the > occasion and gay with decorations, which took \ the form of flags, mottoes, and three beautiful j floral archee. A banquet was beld in the Town ' Hall in the evening, afc wbicb, on the mayor's i invitation, 100 persons were present. Greet j displays of eufchnsiasm and loyalty were made. His Excellency left this morning for Ophir, via St. Bathans. Alexandra South, March 12. He has gone to Cromwell aud Clyde to-day. Cromwell, March 12. His Excellency Lord Raufurly made aa : cfncial visit to Cromwell to-day. He was driven up.from Alexandra by Mr W. S. Laidlaw, of Eii-nseleugh etntioo. Upon his arrival he was conducted by the Mayor (Mr K. Pretsch) to a platform ia front oE tbe Council Chambers, where fche Town Clerk (Mr H. Hotop) read a loyal address, to which hip Excellency replied. The school children, led by the Cromwell Band, under Mr M'Laughlin, sang the National Anthem. Two of tha school children — Myrtle M'Laughlin and Cyril Betts — presented his Excellency and dplain Alexander (^private cecretary) with buttonholes. After his Excellency had seen tfce town and examined the Cromwell bridge he was entertained at a luncheon in Mountney's Hotel. The Mayor proposed the health of the Queen, and bhe company 1 sang a verse cf the National Anthem. The I Mayor then proposed fche health of his Excellency, which was drunk with great enthusiasm. In his reply, the Governor dealt specially with fche importance and the projpectß oi the mining industry, and afterwards prop:sed ihe toast of "The Mining Industry," which was responded to briefly bat forcibly by jMr John Werner. His Excellency, accomj panied by a number of cifc zens, drove ou i la 1 Kawaraa Goi'.je and witnessed the launch oE fche Electric Company's third dredgt, wh eh. J was named, with his Excellency's permission, fche " Lady Ranf urly." The Governor then visited Electric No. 2 dredge, and saw tha manager washing up. The vice-regal party left at 4- p.m., amid the cheers of fche assembled i people. The day was a beautiful one. His Excellency's affability and courtesy have won golden opinions from everyone.
