The colony guarantees the integrity of the capital funds of propeities placed in the Public Tiust Office where theie is no duection for the investment of such funds, or wheie theie is no othei direction foi tlieii lmestnient than geneially, at the option of the Public Tinstee, in the secuiities in which, unless expiessly prohibited, he may invest all capital funds. The colony also guarantees on such capital funds for investment a common rate of interest, to be ciedited qumteily, fiee of all office diary's, to the propeities fioni which the funds anse. The value of this guarantee will be obvious when it i*> consideied that it is — 'I he guaiantee of the Colony against loss fioni investments in bad or insufficient secuiities; The auaiantee of the Colony against loss fioni del.iy in the investment of moneys; The gumantee of the Colony that the interest deteimined by ' v nler in Council shall be legularly and punctually paid, free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. A pei son making a will or trust must always be setiously concerned as to the secuiity of the capital funds ; and the laigei the capital funds the gieatei will be the concern for security, and the less for a high late of inteiest ; and it will be found that the charpes for the administiation of a piopeity by the Public Tinstee will, when the legal chaiges and commission allowed to executois and iiinnnistiatois in connection with piivate admimstiations aie consideied, compare very favourably with the expense of an administiation by any other means. In p'ivate trusteeships, death and absence rendei necessaiy numeious and expensive deeds not lequiied bj Public Trustee's administration, which has, besides, the office solicitor's advice without expense to the estates.
