The rain, although very welcome to graziers, made matters rather unpleisant at Ad-Jington. The entries of all eUs-es of stock were good, and there was more anim^ti in in business. The entries for the day comprise) 9:64 sheep and lambs, 304 head of cattle, and 240 yisfy. Fat Cattle.— 2ll yarded contained a few mime steer?, but the bulk were light waights, good quality heifers (mostly small), and only few cows. The bidding throughout was more spiri ed, the cooler weathercausing butcherstolaunch out more f 1 eely, Ibut there was no change in the prices per 1001b, which raa from 15s to 17s for primd beef, 13a "to 14s 6i for fair to good, and 10s to 12- 6d for cow and inferior ; per head, steera brought £4 to £7 and up ti £7 17s 6d for extra good, heifers JS3 2^ 6J to £5 10s, c ,ws £3 5a to £1 ids. Fat Sheep —A medium entry of fat fheep showed an improvement iv qu-lity all touad. A few very goad lines of crossbred wetheis and ewes were also bettor than lately. The colder weather caused butchers to compete more keenly for prime he^vy- weight wethers, aud lhes>e changed hands atf!oml2-s to 13s 6J, freezing buyers operating freely for any suitable lines. Best wethers of this class made 10s to )2s Od, the 1-itter price being given for about 200 prime soits fiom the Buccleuch estate. Good youusc ewes were in demand at from 8s to 9s 7d. Older sorts, too, sold at from 5s to -7s. Culverden meiinos, 5a 8d to 63 lOd ; merino ewes, 3a 6a to 4s 4 1 Fat Lambs.— Nearly 3000 lambs were in th» fat pens, but very few prime. The unsatisfactory new* from Home caused buyers for export to reduce limits, and, evuu at a reduction of Is per head on the prices mling a couple of weeks ago, bidding was not k'ien. Uood lamb 3, fit to piss the factories, brought 9i to 10s 7d ; butchers' soits, 7s to 9^ ; unfinished, taken fur rape, 5a to 7s. Pigs.— There was a small entry of p'gs, moitly handy weights. Fats of good quality met with a keen demand, LacTneru ranging fiom 3j«l to 3Jd per lb and porkers from id. Per head, bacoaers ran from 32s to 495, poikera from 17s for miiaH to 39< for. heavy, store 3 15i to 30s. There weie no small pigs ou offer.
