COMPLETE COLLAPSE OF AH ATHLETE. ■■ ■ o HE BROKE DOWN THROUGH OVER- ; TRAINING, BUT IS AGAIN FIT AND FEARLESS. (From the Balmain Observer.) It has been stated tbat Mr W. H. Beattie, an athlete and boxer of some repute, who had broken down whilst training, had beeu completely cured by Dr Williams's Pink Pills for Pale People. This being a case of importance, a representative of the Observer called upon Mr Beattie and was favoured with the following particulars :—: — , " I got into a very low state," said the gentleman. "My flesh lost its firmness and elasticity ; my appetite was very poor, and I thought my fighting career was over for good. You must know that I have, held the amateur light-weight championship, and, in my time, have fought most of the best men in the colony. As a matter of fact, I was training for the light-weight championship of the colony when I broke down, of course through over-training. The very thought of a boxing glove or a punching bag made me feel sick. I abandoned all hope of the championship, and took a complete rest. My arms and legs had given way, as it were, and I felt it was about as much as I could do towalk up as far as the park (close by) and ait down, I tried several tonics, but instead of getting better the opposite resulted, so I consulted two or three doctors, who said I only wanted rest, and they each in turn gave me some physic ; but this only made me fe,el sick. It did me no good. One day I was ' Bitting in the park in a hopeless sort of way, wonderIng if I should ever get my strength back, when I read in a newspaper the account of a cure in a cafe which 6eemed somewhat similar to my own. The remedy u«ed waa Dr Williams's Pick Pills for Pale People. I went into the town and bought a box. After taking a dozen or so I noticed a moat decided effect. They acted like a pick-me-up. I stuck to the pilb, and got stronser and more cheerful every
day. I got back my lost appetite, and soon ! grew so welt that I actually felt a locging to have a turn at the punching bag again. I took lour boxes altogether, ana feel now as fit (fa as a fiddle, and intend to start training again almost immediately. I am sure that Dr Williams's Pink Pills have pub me right, and I consider them a splendid tonic for those indulging in heavy work, such as training, for I believe that strict training is the heaviest and most trying work in the world. I shall always recommend Dr Williams's Pink Pills to my fellow athletes when they go ' off colour.' " Did you take much of the medicine ?" we asked Miss Hutchison. "No; only a few boxes. I am perfectly cured, and can recommend them strongly to my girl acquaintances. In fact, I have done so, and a young lady at Clifton Hill, who was a great sufferer; is now taking them with much success." "You are williKg that tbe public should know of your recovery, Misd Hutchison ? " " You have our full permission," said Mia Hutchison ; and added ; " I only hope that no mother will experience the p*iu I felt when I thought I saw my daughter fading away."
