NOTES FROM DEEP STREAM. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

January 10. — The construction of the wafer race that was taken in hand from Deep Creek to Walsh's Crossing by the Deep Stream Ilydraulic Company some months ago may be said to be finished to the scsne of future operations in a, most satisfactory manner under the personal supervision of Mr Hyderman, one of the original promoters of this gigantic enterprise. Of course I must not forget to mention that Mr David Robertson had charge of the men during the progress of construction, and it is not too much to say that he discharged his arduous duties to the satisfaction of his employers. The undertaking has been a heavy one from start to finish. The quantity of timber that was required for fluming a number' of steep gullies along the line of constiuction has been something enormous, and must have cost the company a -large sum of money. I took a- ride up the race the other day, and it struck me that the work reflects the greatest credit upon those who had the supervision of its construction. I noted that an enormeua supply of water was coming down the race to Walsh's Crossing. Hydraulic operations commenced in that quarter a short time since under the direction of the company's manager, Mr H. Hyderman. A full description of the company's mining property I must reserve for a future letter.
